Has anyone found a way to turn off the heart rate sensor for workouts, but keep on the cellular? I’d like this option for workouts that I want better battery life, but still stay connected (one option I know is to buy a BT heart sensor so it’d default to that)

I’m watch app go to settings-general and turn on workout power saving mode.

Exactly that

My next question is, would it be for significantly long runs? Curious why you'd want to disable it unless you're doing a 4-5 hour run.

I ask out of genuine curiosity as I had a 6.5 hour triathlon a few weeks back and I was trying to manage battery life but ultimately the Watch died with a few km left in the run.

Yea I’ll go out for training runs that can span 4-6 hours (marathon and ultra marathons). Not a problem with my typical weekday run.

Really sucks. I got an issue with enabling power saving mode and using an external HRM, seems to work with the Heart Rate stock app but Heart Rate metrics are not displayed on the Workout App.
