Been adding more and more HomeKit automations around my house, but I am stumped by one and hoping for some help.

I want to create an automation that turns off the lights in the bathroom when my two kids leave the house. Homekit automations appear to support OR conditions (when PersonA OR PersonB) but not AND conditions (when Person A AND PersonB). I thought that maybe setting up some dummy switches on Homebridge might be the answer - set DummyA to on when PersonA leaves and set DummyB to on when PersonB leaves) but I cannot figure out how to test for the condition of both dummy switches being on.

Any suggestions?

I may be being silly but doesn’t the simple when the last person leaves solve your issue?

If you tap on it you can choose both of your children and they would both have to be out the house for it to trigger. Which seems to be what you’re looking for:

Except, I may or may not be home, and my wife may or may not be home. So I cannot count on the kids being the last to leave the house. The goal of this automation is to turn off the two lights in the bathroom that they ALWAYS leave on when they leave for school. But I could be home which would prevent the automation above from running.

And, if I am not mistaken, checking the names as you suggested is an OR check, meaning it will trigger if one of them leaves the house, but the other one is still home. This was the first thing I tried / thought of, but it didn't seem to work.

And if they were the last to leave the house, I'd be automating a lot more than the bathroom lights (like making sure the front door is locked.) :)

I just tried grouping the two dummy switches to see if they will act as one (or I can check if both are on) but I am still open to suggestions on how to do this if there is a better / different way.

Although maybe this was an iOS 15 thing because checking the names seems to be a different behavior in iOS 16...maybe. I will try that again too.

So in iOS 16 you can select specific people, so you would only select your children.
