Don't know, but it really annoys me to receive replys from ppl that don't have the quoted original. I read so many e-mails I often loose track of what they are replying about.

Just something to think about.

Seriously, the reply with quote thing irks me, too. I always Select All and delete, but still - it's an every day annoyance that could easily be taken care of on Apple's end with a simple toggle in Prefs.
 
I don't think it's possible... good thing we have the easy copy/paste/select tool! Just highlight it and delete.
