turn off safari mobile auto-reload and gps question

Is there a way to make safari mobile NOT reload a page everytime you select it from the list of open windows? This is highly annoying.

Also, does turning off Location Services greatly save battery life on the 3G, or does it only use GPS when an application asks for your location?

This question is three years old but i'd really like to know the answer.
It's still damned annoying and very slow when it reloads each time.

Ps I tried The Perfect Browser but it crashes regularly
