I have CrashPlan running in the background at 3am every morning. Crashplan will not backup if my mac goes to sleep. I need to password protect my iMac when not in use as well. How can I accommodate both scenarios?

In System Preferences:
  1. Set to require password

  2. Set a screen saver

  3. Activate screen saver (such as with a hot corner)

After you've done the steps below, just Click the Lock icon on the upper right of the menu bar and then choose "Lock Screen".


Enable Keychain Status Icon:
  1. Open up Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app
  2. Click "KeyChain Access" on the left in the menu bar
  3. Click "Preferences"
  4. Check "Show keychain status in menu bar"
Disable Sleep:
  1. Click the :apple:
  2. Click "System Preferences"
  3. Click "Energy Saver"
  4. Set Computer Sleep to "Never" (for whichever power source your using)
Set your Screen Saver:
  1. Click the :apple:
  2. Click "System Preferences"
  3. Click "Desktop & ScreenSaver"
  4. Click "Screen Saver"
  5. Choose your preferred screensaver
