I don't see myself using this feature, and I've already accidentally tapped the microphone button several times now. Is there a way to disable this?

Maybe they'll add it sometimes before GM, but I doubt they will.

I've done it several times as well. I think it's more of a bug/need for refinery issue more than anything. I don't think it will get in the way as much when they do.

I doubt it, i always wanted a toggle to turn off the voice dictation button which i always hit

Probably wouldn't help with accidental taps, but it seems like someone mentioned there's an option to enabled/disable raise to speak in Messages in iOS 8 beta 2.
