Turn on a 512k without the battery?

So I cleaned my new-to-me 512K this evening.
I noticed the 4.5V battery had corroded at the top terminal.
There's no doubt that the battery kaput.

Is it ok to turn on the 512k without a battery in the compartment?

I'm not sure when I'll be able to get a replacement.

Yes it's fine

Battery hold clock and general preferences. I use my Mac plus and 128's and have for years without a battery. No corrosion that way either lol.
