I have just bought the Lenovo 27h-20 monitor so I can use my MBP 2020 in clamshell mode. This monitor does support USB-C power delivery up to 90W. There are several articles all over the place who explains workarounds for turning on the Mac without even open the lid. The Mac should turn on automatically when the monitor is turned on and start delivering power. I have tried several times, but without succes. Does anybody have expirience with this? Any special settings required?

What keyboard/mouse are you using with the mac? Usually all I have to do is mash the keyboard and my mac wakes up.

I've never found a way to power up a MBP that's been powered down without opening the lid. I am curious if there is a way, so I'll monitor this thread. However, I rarely completely power down my MBP and instead just allow it to sleep on its own after a period of inactivity or selecting sleep from the Apple Menu. I've had uptimes well over a month without any problem.

Agree with this - I didn't think there was a way to turn on a closed-clamshell MBP that was off, only to wake one from sleep. But I could be wrong if you've seen articles about doing so.

In wake-from-sleep case, which is what I do, it just requires pressing a key on the keyboard or pushing the trackpad.

Double check that you have "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" enabled in Bluetooth System Preferences.

You can schedule your MBP to automatically turn on right before you plan to use it as described in this Apple Support article. What I would like is demonstrated in this video.

I have a DELL U2719 that is able to charge devices through USB C interface. My MBP (13" late 2018) turns on automatically when I turn my screen on. Have you checked in your screen setup menu if USB C power supply is on ? On my screen, it was not activated by default. I have read on on other forums that the cable delivered with the screen might cause issues as well. Have you tried with all available USB C port on your MB ? I personnally connect my MBP with the lower left USB C port when the Mac stands lid facing me.

That's exactly what I would like. The USB C power supply is on and it's working as expected. I also tried all USB C port as you advised, but without results. Mayby I should try another cable, since I am using the one that came with the monitor. Do you have any suggestions for an alternative cable?

I would try with the Apple original cable (the one delivered with the Mac). If that does not solve your issue, I would recommend getting in touch with Apple or your screen Customer Support.
