Hi,

I've recently turned on filevault on my Mac Pro 6,1 on Mojave with 1tb internal SSD, and as a result wanted to also encrypt my TM drives. TM drives were wiped and set up as Mac OS Extended Journaled (Encrypted) but I keep getting error messages saying that my 2tb TM drives are too small.

I have a 4tb TM drive and that completed (after many days) taking up a total of 3.2-3.5TB in it's first backup.

What's happened and how do I fix it?

Thanks!

I'm almost sure TM disks cannot be HFS+ encrypted. Reformat those to HFS+ and encrypt the backup instead. There's an option for that in Time Machine settings
