Hi guys

Well my macbook keyboard is busted so I thought I would turn it into a mac mini. I have a 24 hdmi so Im going to get mini dvi to hdmi cable for the monitor. I need to figure out if I can disable the screen on the macbook. If I close the macbook it always goes into sleep so may be there is a way to disable that? I will use the blue tooth keyboard and mouse. but to complete the transformation I need to disable the screen.

Thanks

After closing the top, when you move the mouse it'll come out of sleep. Either that, or you can install Insomiax--> http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22211

ahh thanks guys alot for that help. NOw all I need to do is reposition the power button so that I wont have to open the screen everytime I need to turn the computer on.

if you want good lid-closed operation then take the bezel off the screen and take out the magnet on the left hand side, then the computer wont know the lid is shut, for your purpose i wouldnt think that matters.

there's a guide for taking the screen bezel off on the site that sells new gels for the apple logo (so you can make it green or a nation's flag etc)

i dont know what the macbook will do if you unplug screen, it might just not display or it might make the external the primary even for things like boot screens

Thanks then I can keep from going into sleep mode when the lid is closed. Ive read you have to reconnect the mini dvi everytime.
