Turning Apple TV off from power

We have our living room set up with a dead switch which turns the power off to everything (Stero, tv, xbox and apple tv) is it bad to just have the power suddenly cut out like that on the apple tv? (Or any device) Step dad got it installed to save power, i hate it.

I don't think it will harm the Apple TV 2 or 3 very much. But it could cause software problems to the Apple TV 1 if don't at a bad time.

Its alright I have TV2. I guessed as much seeing how there arent any moving bits like a HD. Thanks for your reply
