Turning Dashboard widgets off.

I only got my first Mac for about 8-9 years today and I am just wondering if there is anyway to turn the Dashboard widgets off? I don't use them and I see that they use a fair bit of RAM, about 8Mb each, since I have no need for them and I think that the extra 32Mb of RAM would come in handy I want to turn them off. Can anyone tel me if this is possible and if so how to do it?

you can disable dashboard completely in onyx.

when you boot up, dont open the dashboard or hit F12 they wont open.

When I close them they just open again, even when I force close them and when I boot up they start automatically, is there a way to stop this. I am only using 10.4.7 if that matters.
