My friend has a 20in aluminum iMac that he bought for parts. hes used pretty everything in it except the display. I was wondering if there is any way i could turn it into just a moniter cause it would look sweet with it matching my current iMac. Any info would be appreciated.

Not completely gutted. He just used the a few things out of it. Not sure exactly. What would i need to get it to work?

theres no way to wire the screen to a vga or dvi connector? what would be needed to get it to work cause i would really like to do this!

Screen in the iMac connects via LVDS, NOT DVI/VGA etc....

Best way to do it would be buy a Display that is the same Panel Size as the iMac, and the display would need to be not too thick.

Strip them both down, put the new display( Panel, inverter, Controller, Power ) in the iMac.
