turning off illumination keyboard in vista?

I'm using an external display.
In OSX I could turn off the keyboard illumination by pressing F8 or turn it off in system preference.
However, in vista I couldn't find a way to turn it off even i close the lid the light is still on. It's quite annoying.

Anyone have a clue about this?
