This is a fairly recent bug that just started happening in the last week or two. I’m not sure why it's happening or what I could do to fix it. I have Hue Smartlight bulbs in 5 lamps in my living room, along with an Apple TV/Homepod combination. The TV is already off. But I say "Hey Siri, turn off the lights." That HomePod activates and turns off that room's lights just fine, but also decides to turn on the TV for no reason. This has been happening every night.

We use this HomePod for other requests through out the day, it'll never turn on the Apple TV for any other requests other than turning off the lights. I checked for any Home app automations or Shortcuts that might be causing it, nothing.

I just tried it, doesn’t appear so. I just tried it again with the HomePod too, didn’t appear to turn the TV on. Maybe just turning off the lights with my iPad's Siri fixed the issue. I suppose I'll have to try it again throughout the week.

This bug has been present for me on and off for the past couple years. What TV brand do you own? It does this with my Vizios.

It's an LG TV.
Ok then it’s definitely a HomeKit bug. This started happening around the same time my Vizios got firmware updates and thought it might be the TVs.

I just sent feedback. If they don’t know, they won’t fix it.

sometimes it feels like siri misses a word, I've had "turn off the living room lights" toggle every light in the room, it's like she misses the "off" and just changes the power state so everything that was off is now on, and vice/versa

The annoying part is when she misses the "lights" and turns off everything in the living room, including the TV and window AC.

This happened again three times to my partner and I yesterday. Seems like it only happens when we use the HomePod that's connected to the Apple TV to turn off the living room lights. Again, it doesn’t always happen, wish I knew what was causing it though.

Do you have your LGTV set up through Homebridge?

I’ve just remembered that I had the same issue when my old LG was set up through Homebridge because it was set up as a light as that was, at the time, the only way to get it integrated into HomeKit.

No, it's just the Apple TV that turns it on and off. No homebridge.
