Turning original iPhone into an iPod

Hi there,

I'm sorry that I didn't jump onto an existing thread. But *you* try to find a thread that has iPhone, convert, iPod and not get 50 million hits.

Anyway...


I have the original iPhone and will be getting the 3GS. Once the SIM is moved over to the new phone, what will I need to do to make my original iPhone function correctly as an iPod? I'd love to use it in my car and now that the radio will be turned off, it won't interfere with my stereo.

I appreciate any guidance you can offer, including links to the 70,000 times this was hashed out last year.

I wasn't sure if it was going to need something else to make it figure it out. Forgive me but I work as a system administrator in Windows world, so I expect workarounds on top of workarounds.

I like the easy ones.

Yeah, this is exactly what I do, although I still have my sim in the tray. Just put it in Airplane mode, and you're all set.
