I think this is a common question, but I still haven't been able to do it. I want the sound to be turned off in Safari, so the music playing in iTunes isn't interrupted. It would be nice to not have to pay money for this. I have found downloads that might work but they are for PowerPCs. I have an iMac running Intel Core Duo with Leopard.
 
Just wanted to tell people I found the app that is free in the way I use it: Audio Hijack Pro. You get a free trial that will put sound over the "recordings" to make you buy it. But, I don't use the recordings, so the app is free.
