Howdy Folks,
I have a MacPro 5,1 (Running Mojave) with a MVC RX 580. I have Dual 27inch Apple LED Displays.
While I do use the second display at times, I don't 100% of the time, so I'm trying to figure out how to turn off the second display when I'm not using it.

Any ideas?

I did try the "DisableMonitor" tool from here https://github.com/Eun/DisableMonitor. However, it just caused both screens to go blank (Still on). Which I had to force reboot to get everything back.

Thanks!

How about install a physical switch between the graphic card and ACD?

e.g. A display port switch. So, when you want to turn off the 2nd ACD. You can simply switch the ACD to an empty input.

I don’t know any software way to turn off a properly connected ACD.

Of course. You can simply switch that off physically from the power socket (if there is a switch).

Using a physical power switch is about the only way to "kill" an ACD, but there are times when simply turning back on will not recognize properly and a shutdown/restart will be necessary.

A cable like this may be your easiest solution:
