Hey there,

I am using a 19" tv as a external monitor via HDMI and the temperature seems to be around 57 C with my fans at 2500 rpm using SMC. And it only uses nvidia. I dont know if intel can handle the external monitor so I didnt try manually switching via gfx card status.

Does that temperature seem normal?

If you hook up an external display, then you are always going to use the NVidia graphics. I keep mine in clamshell at work and my temps hover around 65 Celsius or so.

yeah those are fine, there shouldn't be any need to use SMCFC. I haven't tried but the intel card should be plenty able to do it (it plays SCII at 4FPS on my 17" when I forget to turn on dynamic switching after school :p )

oh that's right, is that a hardware or software limit? wouldn't surprise me if it is just a software limit as usual, with apple.
