TV as external monitor?

with a normal..."old school" tv, how is the resolution for reading text?

At 640 x 480 resolution, with bold, 18 point text, just readable.

Ditto that. Resolution on most TVs is just downright wretched.

It's not bad for watching videos and movies and such, but it's TERRIBLE for reading text.

Plasma or LCD is the way to go but they are pretty pricey given their actual resolution.

Heh, Ironically whenever I get around to purchasing my own TV (20"-ish) I plan on using is as an extended display for my eMac. iTunes visualizations and perhaps some gaming, among other uses.

Resolution of most lcd tv's isn't very high compared to an lcd computer screen. Especially compared to an Apple Cinema Display. Look at that before you purchase one!
