TV Borders in Toast 7

Sometimes when I rip a movie to DVD, the borders of the movie are streched off the screen. Movie titles and/or credits are somtimes half way off the screen, and sometimes subtitled movies are useless because I can't see them at all. Is there any way to shrink or format the avi file in Toast 7 to control the borders on my TV? Mind you this is only issue in certain subtitled films, and some of the films that have subtitles work fine. Any ideas?
