HomePod  TV - Default to HomePod?

I had read that the HomePod wasn’t ideal as a replacement sound bar, as you had to change the output to the HomePod every time you played music, or turned on/off the  TV.

With the 11.4 update is this any better?

I don't think you do, I had mine playing the news in two places, and put it to sleep. I got confused the next morning when my kid's Blaze and the Monster Machine episode was playing in the kitchen too
