iPod TV Shows - When are new episodes added?

Just wondering why it seems a lot of the TV Show on iTunes remain at the number of episodes they launched with. For example, for SNL, Jay Leno, etc. I see only the shows initially available. For some reason I thought these would be updated with new shows as the new shows air on TV. Any ideas???
