I have both an Apple TV 4K and a 4th Gen Apple TV, both of which are running tvOS 11. My iTunes library is on a Windows PC.

Here's the problem I have. At times (and not all the time), the Apple TV may play one TV show I have in my iTunes library just fine, and then when I go to watch the next episodes, it will display "An error occurred while loading this content." If I bounce all the way back out to the home screen and come back in, that will usually make it play the episode I wanted. Sometimes I have to force quit the "Computers" app and go back in and then that makes it work. Sometimes I have to close iTunes on my PC and then reopen it and that straightens it out. When none of that works, rebooting the Windows PC and/or the Apple TV usually solves it.

Now, it may go days and days and not have this problem, and then the next day, it has the problem on almost every video I try to play. Sometimes it will stop in the middle of playing something and say that the iTunes library's home sharing is not turned on.

Both of my Apple TVs do this, so that rules out the hardware (at least the Apple TV devices). The network is an older Airport Express. Everything is on the good 5 GHz band on the wifi.

Anyone else have this? Or any suggestions on how to fix it?

While I haven't experienced this yet, I think it is probably tvOS 11. I have saw a lot of bugs popped up since the upgrade, some being that some apps freeze and have to be forced quit.

It is strange that the tvOS 11 update is causing so many issues, it seems like it was hardly an upgrade. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Is you PC set to sleep? This can disrupt the connectivity with Apple TV.
Please send feedback or a bug report if you have a developer account.

Also include a sysdiagnose as this will help track down the issue.

I will send info to Apple, so thanks for the link. The PC is set up to sleep, and but it usually won't sleep while it is streaming stuff to the Apple TV. When it happens, the PC almost never has gone to sleep. I had different issues with the Apple TV 4 prior to tvOS 11, so I really feel like it's related to that. I know Apple probably hates that my iTunes library is on Windows, so that may be playing into it also. :)

Kind of an old post but thought I would share an update. Plugging my desktop PC into my router via ethernet seems to have fixed this completely.
