I have the first 4k Apple TV (4th gen). It was configured to output in 4k/30hz SDR and I had no problems. After updating to the new tvOS 14.5 I now get green bars across much of the top third of my screen.

My setup is the Apple TV is plugged into a Denon AVR-6700. Then this plugs into a Sharp LC-60SQ15U TV. It worked perfectly well until I installed the update. The Sharp TV was when they made "3k" resolution TVs that took 4k/30hz signals and then downsized it to their "3k" resolution. Back when 4k was JUST starting to come out and was far too expensive.

Any thoughts or suggestions to try? Outputting in 1024 works fine of course. But then I'm not taking full advantage of what the TV can provide by getting a 4k signal.

My resolution was also broken by the update (3rd gen AppleTV). Now the left side of the screen is cut off. The projector it's hooked up to (through a HDMI to VGA adapter) can't adjust for it.

It used to work fine before the update. I'm buying a new adapter which should take care of it (HDMI to DVI). Frustrating though, as it worked fine before the update.

My adapter is a brand new state of the art AVR though! So changing the "adapter" is not an option.

I am planning on purchasing a new LG 4k OLED tv here soon though anyhow. And I would hope that solves the problem. But not happy it did break this now.

Sure, I'm mainly just commiserating that I'm also having an issue with this 14.5 tvOS update.

Have you tried switching HDMI cables and going straight into the TV, just to isolate the issue and track down the problem?

I have switched cables. And of course these are the exact same ones that were working, just a software update. I can try direct next, but that won't work long term as the AVR handles the 7.4.2 output for sound. But it would give me another data point. For some reason I think it's something more to do with the switch from 4k/30hz to the new standards perhaps.

After the latest update (14.5) my Apple TV won’t detect the correct resolution for my monitor anymore.

Before the update it was absolutely fine I could select exact resolution for my monitor (it’s an odd resolution something like 1536x864) now it only shows 1080p, 720p etc

It’s overscans like crazy and doesn’t let me adjust that either.

Any fix for this?
