Ever since the update I noticed that any Dolby atmos feed through my home
Theater will feature popping noises every 5 seconds when watching movies through the TV app.

I reset the video settings to clear the hdmi cache on my earc slot but the dolby atmos popping sounds are still heard.

The permanent fix at the moment was turning off Dolby atmos completely and enabling dd5.1. Please help

If you are using a receiver or pre-pro, same issue occurs when connecting the AppleTV to the receiver/prepro as well?

I have a 1st Gen 4k running 18.1 connected to my pre-pro with no issues on Atmos.

Probably just bugs in tvOS18. The "wait for .2 or .3" philosophy generally apples to all Apple OSes. Sometimes, it's .3, .4 or even .5 updates... and sometimes it's "fingers crossed for tvOS 19 or 20."

Else, the remedy is generally DIY workarounds like what you've done. Be sure you let Apple know through their official channels. Hopefully, they'll notice/care too and correct something they very likely broke in the next dot upgrade or three... or five, etc.

I know that's not very helpful but if you can't downgrade to before the bug(s) was introduced, we're all at the mercy of waiting on Apple to fix all of the bugs in this generation of OSes.

I suspect we all miss "just works" Apple (which was never perfect either... but just seemingly better at minimizing bigger problems and fixing most majors by about the .2 or so version). Fingers crossed for the next dot upgrade... and the one after that... and the one after that.
