Twelve South today introduced its newest product, called the "ButterFly" and priced at $129.99. The device is a compact 2-in-1 MagSafe-compatible charger that can fuel up an iPhone and Apple Watch at the same time.

Twelve South says that when closed, the ButterFly is about the size of an AirPods Pro case. When unfolded, a small strip of vegan leather connects the magnetic fast charger for Apple Watch and MagSafe-compatible charger for iPhone or AirPods.

You can fold the accessory into a hands-free display stand for iPhone or tilt the Apple Watch magnetic charger up and use Nightstand Mode. The device includes a 30W USB-C power adapter and four international plug adapters.

The ButterFly is available to pre-order from Twelve South's website for $129.99. You can also purchase it from Apple.com and in Apple retail stores starting today.

Love the design and flexibility, the price might be tough though. Like another mentioned, it’s where the market has landed.

That's a solid design.

My holdup, is that these chargers are perfect/designed for compact traveling, however, when I travel I'm more likely to need to charge the phone as fast as possible so I can go out again, and wired is still king for efficiency.

Actually scratch that, since it is a detachable USB-C cable, if I wanted to, I could just plug it directly into the phone.... Hmm interesting. Maybe when it goes on sale I'll buy.

Bravo, Twelve South. Whoever at Twelve South came up with that design—well done! Gorgeous design.

Shame I already bought a bunch of MagSafe 3-in-1 travel chargers from a different brand.

hmmmm Perhaps Apple is not updating their magsafe duo and instead letting third party's handle this segment for them.

as a big fan of the magsafe duo I do love this design.

At that price MagSafe "compatible" is a dealbreaker. if it's not full speed charging (and watch fast charging) this is robbery. I'm a fan of the brand, but hard pass if the charging spec isn't full speed. (Of course I'm too lazy to verify, so maybe it is full spec and I'm shouting at clouds...).

well, the post specifies it does fast charge the watch. halfway there...

I have the Anker cube and although I'll never buy direct from their website again (shocking service issue), I agree it's the top portable charger and a top charger, generally (I also have the Belkin one).

The price isn't too bad when you consider it includes a cable, 20W power adapter, and 4 international plug adapters. The Apple MagSafe Duo is the same price and includes only a cable.

Looks nice; would love a space gray option too.
Also TwelveSouth's website claims a 30W charger included, while Apple's website says 20W charger. Which one is true?

Looks cool, but I don't understand how the phone is standing up in this shot in the video. Seems to break the laws of physics 🤨
I had the same question. How does that stand allow the iPhone to be in standup mode? There is a possibility of gingerly propping up like that, I suppose, but it would seem that a slight knock and the whole thing would tip over.

I once had a Twelve South tripod-ish stand for the iPad. I think it was called the Compass, but I can't remember. It was beautifully made, heavy, and solid. You could use the stand to prop up your iPad like an easel or lie it flat on an angle. There was a huge design problem though. As you tapped and tapped away on your Compass supported iPad, the legs would move ever so slightly and at some point the whole thing will suddenly collapse. The tapping motions created enough vibration to slightly adjust the legs over time.

In sum, it was a horrible device for what it was intended for. And, it was expensive. I plan never to buy from Twelve South again. Expensive crap.

Over the years, I've developed a dislike for accessories that are too specialized because often, in several years time, these accessories become useless with updated main devices and are to be discarded. This might not be one of those devices since Magsafe and the Watch charger is still standard within the Apple ecosystem. I guess that's a "plus" for expensive crap. LOL.
