I have a Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh that needs the power supply replaced, but I can't figure out how to open the base unit, especially without damaging its case. There's no give at all between the shell and the unit inside.

I acquired it this way, knowing the repair it needed, and the TAM is reportedly in working order other than the power supply, although idle for years. I'm just not sure how to get started.

Any tips from someone with TAM experience?

Hi Doctor Q. I recently acquired a TAM and had to figure it out - I filmd the whole thing

hope this helps

That is part 1 of 4............you need part 2 where I open the subwoffer
-
when I got it the machine was totally dead. Turns out I had a blown fuse in the power supply............wont spoil what happened ....you have to watch all 4 to see the result

this was my first time opening a TAM. I used what I could find on google and the rest was the need to figure it out.......so kept going till it was in bits.

Thanks a million, VintageRecapEurope. It's getting harder to find anyone with TAM knowledge. Even the shops I know that repair or tinker with old Macs seemed to be shy about promising me any help.

Nice use of fast-forwarding in your videos!
