Twitter for iOS has been updated today with a new tab called Moments that will help users discover stories unfolding on the microblogging service, such as conversations between world leaders and celebrities, citizens reporting on world events, cultural memes, sports commentary and more.
Tapping on the new lightning bolt tab on your phone opens a list of Moments that matter now. As new stories emerge throughout the day, we continue to update this list. Looking for more? You can also swipe through to topics including "Entertainment" and "Sports" to find more stories from the past few days.
Moments can be found in a new lightning bolt tab at the bottom of the Twitter app on iPhone and iPad in the U.S. only at launch. Moments contain an introduction with a title and description, and users can swipe to scroll through the in-depth story with full-width images and autoplaying videos, Vines and GIFs.

Moments will often be updated as more information becomes available and will mainly be curated by Twitter employees, with some contributed by partners such as Bleacher Report, Buzzfeed, Entertainment Weekly, Fox News, Getty Images, Mashable, MLB, NASA, New York Times, Vogue and the Washington Post.

Twitter for iOS [Direct Link] is free on the App Store and is now at version 6.38.1.

OK, updated Twitter app on both iPhone and iPad this morning and I am not seeing Moments tab on either device. Why?
It will be activated on the server side not on the client. So it has nothing to do with updating your app.

Thought this was a promotion for Apple.

Been quite a while not using Twitter client.

Same here, I used to read news there but I can't stand the people so I switched to Flipboard and now to Apple News.

Might be interesting if I could block 'celebrities' with the tab. :p

The new Twitter client update mentions the feature. Hence the confusion.
Are you sure you didn't just read the app description or something? The update 6.38.1 reads: "Go big in Direct Messages with super-sized emojis. All the emojis you love are now available to DM in XXL."
It's also common for apps that an update will be released just to mention new functions but the update didn't actually has these (since it's just a server thing).

Call me crazy I just never got into this twitter thing. I said pound sign to my daughter the other day and she looked at me like I was speaking spanish. And suddenly I was like Ohhhh I mean hashtag and suddenly the fog lifted and life continued.

The top line there alludes to it I think.

I don't see this Moments tab at all. I did just update the app however. I guess it's a switch on their part.

It's US only.

You can, however see Moments in the new UI that users in the US have shared. @TwitterMoments has shared some already. Click on one and flip through, double tap (Favorite) and even share it yourself.

What's a pound sign? You mean "£"?

My favorite part about this new feature is that even after disabling the idiotic default setting of disabling video autoplaying on cellular data, the Moments tab will autoplay videos on cellular anyway.
