Twitter, Mail, Facebook Apps Not working when connected to mobile hotspot on new iPad

Anyone else have this issue where apps like Twitter, Facebook, mail etc don't connect at all when your iPad is on a mobile hotspot?

I use my jail broken iPhone 4's 3G to tether to my iPad since I have no wifi at work and safari works (except twitter.com), iTunes works, the app store works but for whatever reason it seems like none of the social network apps and various games work. All I get is a timed out error every time

Does anyone know how to fix this? :(
