Twitter notifications slow

Not sure if this has already been covered (did a quick search, found nothing) or if it is intentional.

...however, the ML Twitter Notifications seem to be delayed in being pushed. Mine aren't coming through for about 5 minutes after I've been tweeted.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
