Twitter has rolled out a new Share Tweet pop-up menu in its official iOS app after it began testing the feature with some users last month.

The new-look sharing menu gives users quick access to Twitter contacts that were recently used in Direct Messages, as well as shortcuts to apps such as Messages, WhatsApp, and Gmail.

The native iOS Activity view (formerly called the Share Sheet) can still be accessed using the "Share via..." option at the end of the row of options in the Share Tweet menu, or users can long press the Action button in Twitter to bring up the Activity view directly.

The new Share Tweet definitely offers a more compact set of options than the native iOS Activity view, but users who have customized their Action extensions will note that it doesn't provide the same customization options as the latter, and it doesn't include AirDrop links either.

To access the new Share Tweet menu, make sure you've updated to version 8.37 of the official Twitter app on iOS.

I hate custom share sheets. Just another unnecessary step to get to the native share sheet.

yeah I’m loathing this custom share sheet as well. Super annoyed that I simply cannot copy the link to a tweet and paste anywhere I wish; yet this seems to give me that option finally.

why couldn’t this share sheet match the theme “Dark Mode” of iOS when it’s enabled? Very jarring

This custom share sheet seems to have approximately zero fans.

omg, is this something everybody here on MacRumors forums can actually agree on? Hmmmm 🤔

i just screenshot a tweet to share it with my friends in another app. what a waste and extra steps needed. if i want to share a video.

What a PITA. This adds absolutely nothing over the native share sheet, it's actually worse. And it's typically US-centric, it's missing LINE which is what everyone here in Japan uses, so now I have an added tap to go the native share sheet every single time.
