Hello! I am new to this, so please excuse me if I say something stupid. I have to iMac G3 they have both 400 MHz/slot a green one and a berry one. They were sitting around for 20 years I guess. So I wanted to use the green one to upgrade it as much as possible. I opened it up and bought one gigabyte of RAM and a new SSD hard drive with an adapter. Also, I bought a new battery just to make sure. Before I opened it up, the monitor was starting, and the button was having a green light. After upgrading nothing happened and the CRT had weird colors.

So I stop the installation of Mac OS X tiger. I connected a VGA monitor, which worked great. But somehow during the installation the system froze.

I thought it might help to clear the PRAm with contol+alt p+r.
I pressed the combination while it’s starting, and let loose of the buttons when it started the second time. But after this, my system won’t boot at all. The screen does not light up and there’s only a very short light at the power button I’m not even sure if it’s green or yellow that’s beside that nothing happens.
I also tried the CMOS reset button near the ram modules. Nothing changed. What can I do? I think I killed my system :-(

The second phone do anything at all it is just that even if I press the power button.

The second machine might have a dead transformer.

What happens if you remove the new RAM and the SSD and power up the computer? I had a similar problem where my iMac G3 initially wouldn't start after replacing the HDD with an SSD. As you can see in my thread, I eventually solved it by pulling the RAM and the SSD, checking that the adapter was configured correctly, pressing the CUDA button once more and then reinstalling the RAM and the SSD.

I did. put the original ram back in and removed the drive. Sadly same result :-(
