Hello,
I have an iMac that I am running off Thunderbolt SSD. Works great! I have erased my internal hard drive and now it is empty. Can I place the Users folder out there so that all my data will go to that drive by default. I called AppleCare and the tech seemed to know less about the Macs than I do and I am just over a year on Macs after 30 years on Windows. Is it possible to have the system default to the internal hard drive for data?

Thank you, Bill

You would need to change where the system is storing the Home folder and then make an alias in the old location so that the system doesn't hang when looking for it. It's not a hard thing to do, but you can run into issues if not done correctly.

Thank you but how do I do this? I have never done this before. Thanks, Bill
