Not specifically an iOS10 issue, but wasn't sure where to post.
Just turned off two-factor authentication, as I experienced the "endless loop" phenomena. I was leery from the start... I'm a software developer (I write apps for internal use by big companies) and losing access to my devices could have serious consequences. Darn it, I KNEW something like this would happen...
So, I charged an turned on an iPad 3 that I haven't used in some time. (Going to stick it to my refrigerator with some magnet-mount thingie.) It's on iOS 8.something. (I intend to update it.)
Started the endless loop of authentication requests on my other devices - iPhone 7Plus is the chief culprit, as I got a whole pile of authentication requests, and of course how would I know which of the dozen or more numbers to enter?
I think the problem may be worse with older devices, which may "take their time" to respond once you authorize on the other device and get an authorization code. My old iPad 3 takes FOREVER before it comes up with the dialog to type-in the code, and by then, my iPhone 7Plus had another code, and then another, and then many more in rapid succession.
If you value actually being able to use your devices when you want, do NOT turn on two-factor authentication!
I SEEM to have recovered by going to my Mac Mini and going to the website and turning off two-factor authentication.
Worst case scenario I was afraid of at least did not happen - I'm afraid this could get you into "too many login attempts" and have the thing wiped.
Bad enough that since updating (everything else) to iOS10 I am constantly pestered to log-in to iTunes, log in to iCloud (SAME ACCOUNT DON'T YOU GET IT APPLE?) etc. etc. Seems no rhyme or reason to when I am asked.
