I have searched, but I have not been able to find this particular issue elsewhere. If it exists, my apologies.

I noticed a couple of days ago, my iPad was asking for the two-factor code. I clicked, apple sent the code directly to my iPad. When I entered it, it said I had entered the wrong code. Thinking, I had made an error, I tried again, same problem.

(To clarify, I switch back and forth between iPhone and Android. I was using my Android at the time, so the code went directly to iPad.)

Since this was an issue, I switched back to my iPhone, thinking it might sort it out. I then got two different codes, (one on iPhone, one on iPad) neither of which worked. I was instructed to change my password for my apple id, I did so. After a few failed attempts with various codes, sent by apple, I got the "you've tried too many times" notice. I cannot access my Apple ID page, because the codes didn't work, and I can't enter them anymore.

This is a conundrum. I've been on the same account for years, and I have never had this issue before. How long do I have to wait to try again, and if the code apple sends me doesn't work again, then what?

Thanks for any and all assistance!

Edit- The issue resolved itself within a few hours. I suppose it simply needed to pair up again. ???
