It just occurred to me that two nearly identical iPhone 5's will be arriving on Friday (hopefully). They are both black and slate, 64 GB, and AT&T. What's worse, they both have the same ship-to name and address, even though they are for different people and different phone numbers.

Same:
Address
Ship-to name

Different:
Bill-to name
Bill-to address
Phone number

How will we tell the difference? Does it matter, or can we activate either phone with either number?

Thanks.

by the sim card number and it will have a sticker on the box with your number on it also

Wouldn't there be documentation inside the box showing the billing information?

Wow. Just dial each other's number with one of the phones. Can u figure the rest out?......
That suggestion clearly won't work - the phones won't be able to dial out before they are activated, nor will they ring when called.

Of course.

Santa Claus figured this all out long before they even had computers that could track orders, so it's no problem at all for FedEx or UPS.

You really can't figure out how to activate the phones over the cellular network? They come ready to activate without a computer and yes, if you call both numbers from one phone, guess what. One of the two calls will reach the other phone.

Each phone will have a sim card pre-installed. Each sim will have their own number tied to it already. You do the activation on the phone itself and then call another phone to see what number pops out.

You activate the phone when powering it on. Not as if you have to call in. Once done, number will show up.

I just wouldn't do an icloud restore if you planned on it before you get that step complete.

I'm 99% sure my 4S, 4, etc.. didn't come with any invoice or anything in the box, just the phone and packaging.

You can't go wrong though, even if you did have to manually call to activate.

Why in the wide world of sports is this thread still going when the answer has already been posted ?
