On Friday when the Apple servers were getting hammered, I attempted to place an iPhone 4S order, but I got to a page that never finished loading, waited about 30 minutes, and then gave up and closed my browser. About 15 minutes later I tried again and successfully got to the order confirmation page and saved my order number etc. Hours later, I got two emails from Apple stating that my order had been recieved. I figured it was just a server problem and I was getting duplicate emails, but I later realized that they were both different order numbers!

The weird thing is, both times I placed my order as "add an additional line to an existing account", and my family plan already had 4 phones on it so this was #5, and only 5 phones are allowed on Verizon family plans.

So I am now wondering how this order managed to go through. Shouldn't the system have flagged my order since it effectively added a 6th line to an account that only offers 5 lines? Did I just get a 2nd phone at subsidized pricing while only opening up only one new line of service?

Has anybody had anything like this happen to them? I've never used Verizon before so I don't really know what to expect. Has anybody tried to add a 6th phone to a family plan? In all likelihood I'll just have to return the 2nd phone, but I am now curious whether I somehow ended up with another subsidized phone without an additional contract.

My phones are "preparing for shipment" by the way.
