I upgraded to an iPhone 4, but would still like to use the 3G as essentially an iPod Touch.

Before I do anything stupid, however, i wanted to check in with the experts. My fear is that when I plug in the iPhone 3 iTunes will sync to that instead of the iPhone 4. I did not think of changing the name from the default "my name iPhone" when installing.

Any suggestions? I can back up in time machine revert, I suppose, if anything goes wrong.

Does your iPhone 3G still have a back up on iTunes? If it does, there shouldn't be a problem.

It will sync with both separately. It id's the phones electronically, not by the name you give it. If there is something you don't want synced on your 3G, just deselect it in iTunes.
