iPod Two Ipods..Reinstall Previous version?

Hey, I just recently bought a 30GB Ipod video, but I also have an IPod shuffle. My question is will I need to uninstall the programs that came with the shuffle, so that I can just install the Ipod software for the 30gb? I'm sorry if this doesn't sound clear, but will my computer read both devices if that happens? I'm asking because, my harddrive is running low on space, and so far, the software that came with the shuffle is taking up around 87mb, and I was just wondering if I needed to have both software from the 30GB & Shuffle installed on my computer for it to read it. Any help would be appreciated.

You really only need one copy of the latest iPod Updater Software because this will service both your iPods.
