Two iTunes accounts

My partner and I have one iMac, with one log-on (user account). At the moment our iTunes account is in my partners name, however when I get my iPhone I will be setting up my own account.

Does this mean that apps my partner has downloaded (for the iPod), will not be available to me for the iPhone and vice versa?

Similarly with music, if one of us buys music, will the other one be able to sync it to their device?

Yes you are correct. If you create a new computer account log in your partners purchases will not be available for you to sync.

Yes you are correct. If you create a new computer account log in your partners purchases will not be available for you to sync.

AFAIK You can use the same iTunes account with 5 different computers. So you wont really need to buy the same stuff again. Just authorize both the iTunes with the same iTunes account and you`ll be good to go.
