So I want to be able to dock my laptop with one cable. Simple quick and easy.

But I also want to use two LG 5k Monitors while in clam mode. So this is my setup.

MacBook Pro TB connection to Dell D22TB4
Dell D22TB4 TB Port 1 to LG 5k 1
Dell D22TB4 TB Port 2 to Blackmagic eGPU
Blackmagic eGPU TB Port 2 to LG 5k 2

I have full 5k on both and everything turns on instantly once I plug in the Dell dock. Works great, everything is detected and just works.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm thinking about upgrading my 2020 13" MBP 4TB to a 2023 16" MBP M2 Max.

I currently have 1st gen LG Ultrafine 5k, and am thinking about picking up a second one to pair up with my upgraded M2 MBP. Would your docking solution work for my potential setup? Or would it only work for the 2nd gen 27MD5KL models?

Apple Silicon Macs can’t use eGPUs, so no, this won’t work with your computer.
