Is there a way to have two lines ring in a single phone? And also to be able to tell which line is ringing when calls come in?

Yes, but you’ll need to setup an eSIM in addition to your nano-SIM card. Once setup, you can label the two different numbers and choose your default number for data consumption. All the instructions are there

There seems to be some limitations of dual lines. Such as a second line call going straight to voicemail without notification if on a call on the other line.

Calls themselves should be labeled with the first letter of each lines label below the name or number of the person calling.

You can use an app like Burner for a secondary line. It'll use your current text and calling plan for a secondary number. Passing them through your burner number.

If you want total separation. You can use something like Hushed. Which instead uses VOIP for calls and texts. They'll be self contained in the Hushed app. So, it's readily apparent that a call or text is through Hushed.

The advantages both offer over a regular plan is they are much cheaper. Plus it's easy to dump a temporary number for a new one, add multiple numbers or flip them to another device.

Hushed has an additional advantage for traveling. As you can still use WiFi for your Hushed number and avoid roaming charges or get a local data only sim and use your Hushed number.

There's other apps which offer similar features.

Edit: Burner's advantage over Hushed is you can simply burn numbers or keep them. Hushed requires a new monthly fee for each new number. While your old number has to be cancelled and will remain available until the end of the billing cycle. It's too bad they don't have a VOIP option.

There is also a proven way of replacing the sim-card reader and tray with their dual-sim (Chinese market dual-sim iPhone) counterparts. iOS considers the second SIM just as legit as an eSIM.
