I'm wondering if I've overlooked an obvious method. I have an iMac, MacBook, Magic Keyboard and a Magic Trackpad 2.

There are times when I put the iMac to sleep, and then use the MacBook with the Keyboard, Trackpad and a 2nd monitor.

They work fine but in order to reconnect the bluetooth devices each time to either computer, I need to turn them off and back on to pair them again. Is there another way that I'm just not thinking of?

I tried both settings in the checkbox "Allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer", neither setting makes a difference.

I put the MacBook to sleep and then usually wake the iMac with a Magic Mouse that always stays paired with it. Still have to turn the keyboard and trackpad off & on again.

Not a huge deal, just wondering if there's another way that should have been obvious to me, without adding any additional hardware or software.

I know you said you don't want to add any additional hardware, but Logitech makes a multi device keyboard and mouse that does exactly what you want. You can connect them to up to 3 different devices over Blueooth, and then you just press 1, 2 or 3 on the keyboard for whichever device you want to control. I'm using them now with my Mac Mini and work PC and it works great. You can hook it up to your iPad, phone, or anything else as well.

Mouse:
I have my iPad Pro set up as the third device for the mouse, but I think a track pad works better for the iPad than a mouse does.
