Hi all,

I am about to buy a second magic mouse for my MBP. I have one for my iMac already.

Is the Magic Mouse similar to the Apple Remote in that it can be paired to one machine only?

The two computers will often be side by side and I don't want the two mice to go all crazy on me, so I am just double checking.

Thanks.

short answer: yes it will work.

it's bluetooth, so you have to pair it with a computer before it will work. it's a direct radio link between the computer and the mouse, so it's not even talking to the other computer. in much the same way that your bluetooth headset doesn't connect to the phone of the person sitting next to you.

the apple remote is a bit different, there are several different codes (255 i think) that the remote has, so if a remote is 188, it will send play-188 or stop-188. pairing in that case causes the mac to ignore any commands that don't have the right number with it. or if the mac is un-paired it listens to all.
