Welcome peers to Two|One

Two|One is an attempt at having an elongated, parallel photography contest in which submissions are explicitly generated for the given subject and run in 21-day cycles.

Please read through the tailored contest rules

-One photo only per contestant.
-Submitted image is limited to original work that has not formerly been displayed in the forums.
-Winners are chosen by forum user votes.
-1st place winner sets new contest theme within 72 hours.
-Behind the scene shots are a requirement and produced as proof of the work put in by all 3 winners after their announcement. Failure to do so will disqualify the winner/winners. New winner trio will be updated accordingly based on number of votes. Presenting bts shots remains a requirement.
-Photos are to be prepared and submitted within a 14 day period. Thread manager closes the contest on the 14th day and voting begins. That would be on 07MAY2014|05:26PM FORUM TIME

Do not cast votes before that specific point in time. Forum users have 7 days to cast their votes.
Vote responsibly. Votes are counted upon completion of the 21-day cycle. That would be on 14MAY2014|05:26PM FORUM TIME after which voting is closed. Please respect this in order to have a fair outcome.

You are highly encouraged to experiment with lighting, materials, constructions, weird combinations, crops, post production, workarounds, DIYs, and scout for locations. You can also ask friends, spouses and lovers to model, put make-up on them, choose a wardrobe if necessary, but relevance tothe subject must be maintained.

As I said in the POTD thread. I think it’s a great idea, anything that creates more interaction and creativity from the community gets a thumbs up from me. Didn’t want to post in this thread to try and keep it ‘image only’, if that’s what you are going for.

Will have a think and see what I can come up with for an image. Planning images isn’t really my style of shooting but I may have to make an exception!

I'll have a go to swell the numbers, but there wasn't a lot of setting up, just a table and some white board.
I am still learning, so post processing was limited to removing a few blemishes on the background.

I have pictures of the table and board if required.

Hope nobody thinks less of me for trying ...

I will also be posting the behind the scenes tomorrow as I do not have that photo with me right now.

Since on the subject, it has been suggested that the behind the scene should be a more relaxed prerequisite. If this is what discouraged entries, please say so in this thread, though I do believe that just snapping a pic with a samsung galaxy 4s on an apple forum is not that big of a deal.

before I forget, most gestures have a negative meaning, and those are from left to right

I'd be against removing the requirement. As I understand, this contest is supposed to be about work created to satisfy the theme, so the behind the scenes shot should be a non-issue.

I really don't like the regular contest because it's mostly mindless snapshots. The quality of this contest was already much higher. I'd rather see 5 good pics and how they were taken than 1000 snapshots. Quality over quantity.

Aside from that, seeing how the pictures were captured is very interesting. I know I've always enjoyed the shots needfx posts all the more when I see what goes into them.

Agree the one you entered was better than the frames.

I guess it might take a while for this contest to take off, but I think it has a place here. Now I'm off to watch the Big Bang Theory for inspiration for the next one.
