Machine: Powerbook 15.2" Combo with backlit. Running OSX 10.3.1

First problem is, I turn of Cmd+D for the dock, because it interferes with keyboard shortcuts in other programs. It seems as though as soon as I do this, Cmd+O stops working in the finder, which is a huge pain in the date.

So I delete finder.plist.com or whatever it's called. And while I don't mind doing this, I do mind doing it every day. Is this a problem I can fix permanently, or wait till the next OS update?

Second problem is, backlit keyboard will sometimes turn itself off, in a way. I will open the 'book, turn it on (in a dark or light room) and it says its turning on but it certainly is not.

I have to reboot holding down P R and Option or whatever it is, to get it to reset PRAM, again, can this be fixed permanently?

Thanks!
