Hi,

I'm using a PhotoShop Demo and I have two problems.

1) I can only have one image open at a time

2) I've opened a new canvas with a transparent background, but it keeps saving it with a white background.

Can anyone help?

1) Limitation of the demo?
2) Need to make sure you save it in a format that supports transparencies.

Thanks for answering

It's supposed to be a fully working demo.

Any idea what formats don't support transparencies? I'm working on JPEGS.

Cheers.

#1 Photoshop CS4 actually opens images in one window and uses tabs.

You can separate these tabs into their own parent windows much like you do in Safari by dragging the tab away from that window, however, as a default they will open in separate tabs.

This is not a limitation of the demo, it is a limitation of the application. Or maybe not a limitation but it's the way it that it is. Is this the case for you or are you asking something else?

#2: To save something with a transparent background you must save in a file type that allows for transparency, GIF is one. Try that. JPEGs + transparences don't jive unless you're referring to photography and slide film.

JPEG does not support transparency. GIF and PNG output do.
or google: image format support transparency

No, they can't be seperated at all (that I can see anyway). I can switch between several, but I am allowed to only see one at a time.

Thanks to everyone for the transparency help.

Cheers

It's easy, drag it out ... hopefully you can tell what I am doing here.

Fine if you want to do the easy way and be all technical about it. :p

You are the one with technique, look at your images.

I just offered a more permanent solution. :p

PS: Why is there a "p" in the "stick out tongue" smiley?

It's because of the round shape with the longer line above it, isn't it?
