Sorry if this isn't the right place to put this.

1) This: , it says it's supposed to be eyes rolling, to me, it looks like a "dreamy" face, like the person daydreaming about something. Is this just me, or has this icon got to change?

2) What does it mean when it says "Time-Out" under someone's name when they post, is it the same as a temporary ban?

Thanks!

1) Take it in context.

2) Yes, it's the same as a temporary ban.

This should probably go in the site and forum feedback forum.

The  eyes are rolling upwards and indicate sarcasm. Although in my opinion a lot of people miss this fact and take some users' comments too seriously!

And here's a quote from the MacRumors FAQ for your other question:

What do the "Banned" and "In Time-Out" user titles mean?

The "Banned" title used to apply to both temporary and permanent bans. Even though moderation issues are handled privately, we added the separate "In Time-Out" title for temporary bans so that others would know it wasn't permanent.

The reason and length of the "time-out" are not shown, but they are known to the member involved.

If someone is "Banned" or "In Time-Out" it means they broke forum rules. The severity, frequency, or circumstances determine which type of ban it is.

I think the emoticon could be used both ways. ie:

  • Ahh, Macbooks are so beautiful. *imagines*:apple:
  • Aren't PCs much better than Macs! They're so cool.
Always depends on context. :D

Yeah, its fine the way it is!

Windows Vista is so great and reliable!

See, it works! Sarcasm!

I find it interesting that most people who want a "new look" or "change" to this site are new users. The majority, probably over 90% of the users, like how things are.

Interesting.

Keep the avatar the way it is.

I think a site revamp would be nice, not an overhaul, keep the same theme and just modernize it a bit.

If you hover over a smilie (with most web browsers), you'll see an explanation.

This smilie --> says "Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)" as a hint that it should be used with care.

A handy tip! Didn't realize that. I wasn't confused, but if I ever become so, this will be useful.
