Hi,
I have 2 new machines running with OS x Yosemite, both are bind to our domain.
I noticed that one of the machines is getting a FQDN "machine-name.domain-name while the other is getting "machine-name.local.

Any ideas?

Are these machines bound to an Active Directory-managed domain or and LDAP/*nix-managed domain?

Did you bind them at the same time/nearly the same time? Were they bound to the domain in an identical way? Are the machine objects in the same logical directory group?

Do the machines have the same "machine-name" or are they "machine-name-A" and "machine-name-B"?
